BP Monitoring Service

The Nene Valley Medical practice is pleased to be able to offer a service to those of our patients who are currently being treated for high blood pressure by the doctors at the surgery.

This service will enable those patients to report to us their own blood pressure readings when they are taken either in another setting outside the surgery or within the surgery waiting room using our own automated blood pressure monitoring machine.

We hope this will allow patients to take charge of their own blood pressure monitoring and save trips to the surgery. Please note that this service is NOT available to those patients who suffer from Atrial Fibrillation (or irregular heartbeat).

Patients can ‘phone, email, fax or complete a form available at reception to inform us of their latest blood pressure reading which will be entered into your records.

Depending on your blood pressure result you should take the action indicated by the flow chart attached (link 1). If you are not sure what to do about your blood pressure reading then please do not hesitate to contact the surgery to ask for advice. Please note that it is your responsbility to make an appointment with the surgery if advised to do so by the flowchart. It is best to take 3 consecutive readings of your blood pressure and use the lowest reading when following the flowchart.

Please note this service is only for blood pressure readings only and not any other requests, any urgent advice please contact the surgery via telephone.
